Chestnut Paling used for foreshore stabilisation on Inisbofin 2001
The build up of sand in the lee of the paling can clearly be seen in these pictures. This has been a very succesful application of the principle of dune stabilisation. This method has been used for many years in America, Britain, Holland and many other countries.
